May Beneficial Ownership Reporting Outreach Activities
As part of our efforts to educate small businesses and other key stakeholders about new beneficial ownership reporting requirements, FinCEN participated in the following events in May. This year, FinCEN has directly reached 81,000+ stakeholders through more than 130 beneficial ownership events and other engagements, including conferences, webinars, roundtables, and informational sessions in partnership with Secretaries of State and other government agencies, industry groups, Congressional offices, service providers, Chambers of Commerce, and other organizations.

Small Business Expo (New York, NY)
On May 2, FinCEN staff engaged with more than 1,000 attendees at the Small Business Expo in New York. As part of the event, FinCEN held a workshop on beneficial ownership reporting. A full list of upcoming Small Business Expos FinCEN will attend is at the end of this note. -
American Bar Association Real Property Trusts and Estates National CLE Conference (Washington, D.C.)
On May 10, at the American Bar Association Real Property Trusts and Estates National CLE Conference in Washington, D.C., Treasury staff spoke on a panel entitled “The Corporate Transparency Act: Where We Are and Where We Are Going.” - Beneficial Ownership Event with Puerto Rico Secretary of State (San Juan, Puerto Rico)
On May 22, FinCEN Deputy Director Jimmy Kirby traveled to Puerto Rico for a stakeholder outreach event with Puerto Rico’s Secretary of State, the Hon. Omar J. Marrero-Diaz. It was FinCEN’s first beneficial ownership event in Spanish. A readout is available here. -
47th International Association of Commercial Administrators (IACA) Conference (Detroit, Michigan)
On May 23, FinCEN staff delivered remarks on beneficial ownership reporting at IACA’s 47th conference in Detroit, Michigan. -
Open Government Week: White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Panel
As part of Open Government Week, FinCEN staff participated virtually in a White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Panel entitled “Strengthening Democracy and Improving Our Communities Across All Levels of Government: The United States Experience.” The meeting record page is available here. -
