Robert W. Werner, Director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), announced today the selection of Patrick Conlon as Associate Director for Analysis and Liaison. Mr. Conlon will oversee FinCEN's analysis of BSA data in support of its law enforcement, intelligence, regulatory and financial intelligence unit customers.

Mr. Conlon joined FinCEN's Analysis and Liaison Division in November 2005 as Assistant Director for Global Support. He supervised intelligence research and analysis to support the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs).

"Mr. Conlon brings to this important position a wealth of knowledge, experience and managerial skills based on more than 20 years of experience," said Director Werner. "We are very excited and fortunate to have Mr. Conlon lead this critical FinCEN division and continue to use his talents in our efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing."

Before arriving at FinCEN, Mr. Conlon served the Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control as Senior Advisor for Foreign Terrorist Programs from 2003 to 2005. In 2004, Treasury Secretary John Snow awarded him the Secretary's Honor Award in recognition of his efforts in Iraq to recover assets stolen by the Saddam Hussein regime.

Mr. Conlon served as an intelligence analyst with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for 19 years. He supervised analysis on anti-money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing issues. Mr. Conlon's final appointment is subject to pending approval by the Department of Treasury and Office of Personnel Management.
