Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is issuing an Alert to assist financial institutions in identifying and reporting procurement networks supporting Iran’s aviation industry, which the Iranian regime uses to transport weapons, funds, and personnel in support the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its terrorist proxies. This Alert supports Operation Economic Outcast, the Trump Administration’s campaign to sever the economic lifelines that sustain the Iranian regime and the IRGC. Concurrently, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned 36 entities and individuals across multiple jurisdictions today for supporting Iran’s aviation sector.
